Stan Lee and THR Team Up for New Animated Series “Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders”

That’s one hell of a weekend we’ve got shaping up.

Stan Lee is still searching for the hit franchise outside of his laundry list of accomplishments at Marvel Comics even at the tender age of 220 years old. Enter a new animated series that his POW! Entertainment is producing for The Hollywood Reporter called Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders. We’ve got 22 episodes on the way with the first four set to drop the weekend of San Diego Comic Con on THR.com. The first episode will also be available on smartphone VR devices that will be handed out at Comic Con.

For everyone else, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter is where Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders will be promoted and we’re even getting merchandise for the show at Hot Topic of all places all from Genius Brands International.

The show follows Lee (voiced by himself), who, having come down with a case of writer’s block, meets seven aliens who have crash-landed on Earth. Each of the aliens has superpowers; however, they can only use their powers in their homeland. On the verge of being captured by “the men in white coats,” Lee offers the aliens sanctuary and puts them through intensive superhero immersion training, helping them learn how to access and use their powers on Earth. Fabian Nicieza (co-creator of Deadpool) is writing the series with cover pages being produced by Todd McFarlane (Spawn).

Our Take

I’m wondering who is going to get the exclusive featurettes for Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders. Will it be THR? Billboard? Or will Deadline surprise the fuck out of everyone and take the lead story? Reviews to follow in what is already sounding like a busy weekend. BoJackDisney Channel, Comic Con, and now this series are all happening the same weekend.
