According to Deadline,  producers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit will be jumping on board with Josh Gad for Central Park and will be producing some of their own original animation for 20th Century FOX as part of a new overall deal.

Central Park is a new musical animated comedy created by Loren Bouchard and co-written by Nora Smith and Josh Gad. The series stars Gad along with Leslie Odom Jr., Titus Burgess, Kristen Bell, Stanley Tucci, Daveed Diggs and Kathryn Hahn and it follows Central Park-based family caretakers that save the park and the world…almost sounding like an older-skewing Regular Show. The series has been ordered for 26 episodes and was supposed to drop this year for Apple TV.

Writer Allie Goertz has ended her tenure at MAD Magazine in favor of a new gig with TruTV’s upcoming original animated series This Functional Family which is slated to premiere during the 2019/2020 season.

truTV’s first-ever animated series, This Functional Family from comedian Jo Koy has been greenlit for a 10-episode first season slated to release next year. At the center of this multi-racial, multi-generational, multi-everything modern family is comedian Koy: a guy who just wants to be a good son, a better dad, a decent brother, and a solid ex-husband. Oh, and maybe get his career and dating life on track if his mother would just leave him the hell alone! Drawing upon real-life experiences and characters featured in Koy’s popular stand-up tour, this half-hour animated scripted series asks: what if the most real family on television was also a pretty weird cartoon? Created by Koy and Kirk Rudell, This Functional Family is produced by Stun with Koy, Rudell, Jeremy Colfer, Mark Feldstein, Brad Roth and Joe Meloche serving as executive producers. Rudell is the series’ showrunner.

Tia Carrere, Gillian Jacobs, Phil LaMarr, Josh Luis Keaton and Omid Abtahi are all part of the cast that will see Koy in the lead role. Kirk Rudell is running the show.
