Shorts Review: Red vs. Blue Season 12 Episode 3

After Felix blows up the only exit away from Locus, what else can go wrong for the Republic? The Reds and Blues can finally work as one unit. ep9114s

When we last left Team Republic, half of Tucker’s team is dead, Locus is after them, and Felix blows up the Federal compound. Seemingly, the survivors made it back to the Republic Base safely.

We’re back at the Republic base, where Grif is telling a bunch of troops about how the Reds and Blues took down Meta, with an assist from Grif. Caboose and Grif are called into Kimball’s office. They find Tucker, who just got back from his mission. Felix comes out of nowhere, about to chew out Tucker, but then just gushes on what a great trade it was to lose two men for a hard drive of Federal secrets. Felix was actually pissed, but things turned out. Kimball arrives, and tells the group that they know where Sarge and the rest of their friends are. Kimball doesn’t have a lot of information to go on, but they need to act soon, because they are getting transferred to the Capital next week. She then surprises Grif, Simmons, Tucker, and Caboose with some praise. They’re misfits with no place in the world, and that gives the soldiers something to hold on to.

Finally, she gives the four of them five days to comprise a platoon of the best soldiers, and prove to Kimball that they are fit to lead a rescue mission for the rest of the teams. Outside, Felix turns on the douchebag when the Reds and Blues ask him for help. He reminds them that when they first came into this, they refused, and if Sarge and the rest weren’t captured, they would still be out, even if it was the right thing to do. He then tells them that everyone has a price. Apparently, Felix turned into the Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase.

Holy shit, is Felix a dick! Part of me wants to say that he’s going to turn on the Republic. He gives a great fuck you to the gang, who only wants their friends back. This sets up what will undoubtedly be an explosive siege on the Capital later on. This was a set up episode, with not a whole lot going on. Grif said something that struck me, though. We should keep an eye on even the most seemingly inconsequential detail, because you don’t know if it will turn out to be important. And I want you to know that Felix is still a dick.
