Shorts Review: Mob Squad Episode 6

Spoilers Below

The good folks at Machinima recently rolled out the sixth episode of “Mob Squad,” and for a Part 6, it ain’t too bad. If it were the sixth installment of a film series it would be way better than most, like the sixth Star Wars film. And by sixth, I of course mean third. Got it? Other notable sixths that it’s better than:

“Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers”

“Beethoven’s Big Break”

“Rocky Balboa”

“Air Bud 6: Airbuddies”

And, of course: “Fast & Furious 6”

(Okay, this movie hasn’t come out yet, but come on, you know it’ll be just awful.) This “Mob Squad” picks up where the previous one left off, with a witch hunt. Not like how The Red Scare was a witch hunt, but an actual search for a witch.

After some brief mushroom-related confusion (nickel for every time, right?) the gang locates the witch’s house, as well as the witch herself. She initially is apprehensive to her fellow monsters, even hitting Marcus with a vial of some potion that makes him talk even slower, but after they name-drop Kirby, she agrees to help.

As always, the episode ends with a cliffhanger – this one involving a cart into a mineshaft. A minecraft mineshaft, you say?  Well color me curious. As expected, the episode has its chuckle moments as the series continues to find its niche and establish its story.

Although not the best effort put forth by the Machinima “Mob Squad” creators, for an episode six it still stays remarkably fresh. Unlike “Care Bears 6: Oopsy Does It,” which I personally found shallow and pedantic.
