SDCC2019 Recap: Cast And Crew Introduce us to “Dr. Penis” For Crank Yankers Revival
Welp, they promised cranks, didn’t they?
Sett to premiere this Fall for Comedy Central will be the rebooted Crank Yankers and to help celebrate, cast and crew were on hand at Comic-Con where not only did we hear about why the show is coming back, but we even met Bobby Moynihan’s “Dr. Penis” character.
Executive Producer Jonathan Kimmel, voice talent Bobby Moynihan & Jeff Ross, production designer Gary Kordan and moderator Brian Posehn were on hand and made several announcements. As mentioned, Crank Yankers is returning this Fall, however, we don’t have a premiere date/time though perhaps the half-hour slot after South Park on September 25th makes the most sense. According to Gary, 240 sets are being built for the show and voice talent on tap includes Chelsea Peretti, Bobby Moynihan, Jeff Ross, David Alan Grier, Adam Carolla, and Tracy Morgan to start which is good enough for me.
Obvious influences being touted for the series include The Jerky Boyz, The Howard Stern Show, and homegrown experience by way of Moynihan who told us of a hilarious upbringing and producer Jon Kimmel even has his kids partaking in the phony phone call business. And if the big reveal of “Dr. Penis” tells us anything, then the puppetry for the series shows no signs of a let-down. Moynihan’s puppet looks like a cross between Joey Boots and Medusa. This has me very much looking forward to more creations coming soon.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
