Rumor: Has The “Ren & Stimpy” Reboot Already Been Shelved By Comedy Central?

Normally I don’t like to jump on Twitter rumors, and specifically this one I’m not crazy about, but we’ve reached out for comment so we’ll mention it here. Twitter user SketchyArtist3 (account launched within the last week or so, which is my first red flag for this rumor) has found a screenshot that shows Bob Camp replying to a Jerry Beck thread saying that the Ren & Stimpy Show reboot has been shelved according to Bob Camp who was a producer on the original series eons ago. No rhyme, reason, or even a direct link to the conversation is provided by the probably bot account, but here’s the screenshot that is slowly going around Twitter:

Again, I don’t like the source, and I’ve reached out to Comedy Central to see if there’s any merit to these claims. The Ren & Stimpy Show reboot was ordered earlier this year by Comedy Central in the network’s onslaught of reviving classic franchises like Beavis and Butt-Head, Clone High, and almost Daria to form what will be an Ultron of an adult animation channel.

Nickelodeon launched the original Ren & Stimpy alongside Rugrats and Doug in 1991, where it quickly catapulted into the pop culture zeitgeist with its dark humor, vivid imagination and critical acclaim. Often thought of as an adult series at the time, the iconic dog and cat duo are consistently ranked among the top animated characters of all time.
