Review: Welcome to the Wayne “Keep an Eye on the Nose” ; “So This Is Glamsterdam”

Glam it up, fuzzball.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

In what could certainly be looked at as a two-part season finale, our first half hour sees Saraline search up for Andre’s book so as to finish the final pieces of the puzzle, figure out who the Gyra team is, and save the Wayne all the while a bunch of noses is running around. These noses are a curious bunch, and eventually, lead Team Timbers to a secret room with Julia hiding out…but why? As the episode closes, the Spy has the key to the vampire army and is about to open it.

In the second half of the episode, Ansi is distressed about the fact that he let the team down and opts to leave. Saraline discovers that the team meant to save the Wayne are, in fact, the Timbers and this is proven when each of them gets floating postcards that when joined together get us the weapon we need to even the odds against the Spy. The team heads to where the Spy is about to launch her army, and a battle ensues, featuring the reunited Ansi and team along with Julia and the librarian who has been trying to protect the Wayne for eons. We learn that the Gyra is a cure for some sort of disease that the vampires have, including Andre, and once the door is opened, half of the team heads in to set the cure which takes them out of Spy’s control long enough, but we aren’t able to apprehend to the evil-doers and instead learn of a shadowy figure that wants to seek revenge.

Our Take

An enthralling finish for a series largely ignored by its parent network. Welcome the Wayne finishes up its first season with action, suspense, hilarity, and a cliffhanger for the show’s inevitable second season. There were twists and turns that had me guessing right up until the end (I was convinced Ansi was gone) and for fans of Gravity Falls I can’t recommend this series enough. The mysteries throughout hearken back to the Disney classic in a truly original way that should be a standout in your viewing pleasure.
