Review: Vampirina “Nanpire and Grandpop the Greats; There’s Snow Place Like Home”

Home is where the heart is.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Nanpire and Grandpop the Greats

It’s the yearly blood moon festival, but humans are coming over so Vee’s family pretty much makes a Thanksgiving dinner. But, when Nanpire and Grandpop come over, they accidentally leave out a spice that makes all of the food come to life. Fortunately, we’re able to get a fix in time and dinner is saved.

There’s Snow Place Like Home”

Vee really wants it to snow, so Demi casts a spell for her that sees it snow JUST on her house. This is a problem, and so they have to read a bunch of spells in their spellbook until the correct one turns everything back to normal just in time for it to snow naturally anyhow.

Our Take

It snows plenty in Pennsylvania, but if I’m a kid watching this in Southern California hoping the snow is coming this winter, you may have a bad day watching this week’s episode. As a whole, Vamprina is harmless entertainment and features a really good cast including Lauren Graham, Wanda Sykes, James Van Der Beek, and Patti Lupone. While there isn’t anything substantial in the pre-school series about important values, from time to time we’ll get something like in the “Nanpire” episode which features a moral all about cherishing the people you have around you. There isn’t anything too flashy about Vampirina, but it gets the job done.
