Review: The Simpsons “The Food Wife”

Spoilers Below!

The Simpsons go to E4! Whats that?? Well its E3 but to avoid a lawsuit..ya know. However, when the kids get back, Marge is pissed because she never gets to do anything fun.  So, she takes the kids to the X-games…which is actually a shitty acronym that Ned comes up with to help spread the awareness of Christ. On the ride home they get stuck in a rundown Ethiopian neighborhood where they stumble on to a restaurant that that features authentic cuisine.

While there the wife and kids eat everything off the menu, loving every minute of it. But, before long they are joined by guests both familiar (Comicbook guy and Sideshow Mel) as well as super special guests Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. Turns out everyone is food blogging, and thus brings us the “Three Mouthkateers!” a new blog being written by Marge, Lisa, and Bart.

Homer(who was once a food critic for a local newspaper) doesnt buy into the global food or food with weird names, but that doesnt dismay the wife and kids who partake on an eating spree all over town trying different dishes and posting about them. They even turn down a trip to Krustyland to go to the most exclusive restaurant in town. Homer gets jealous so Marge invites them to come with to the restaurant  This causes Marge to have a nightmare where we see Mr. Bourdain and all of the other big name chefs following Homer. After a stern talking to from an imaginary Gordon Ramsey, Marge gets freaked out that the kids are always going to want to hang out with Homer instead of wanted to do Mom day.

This causes Marge to give Homer bad directions sending him to a meth lab. But when Marge finds out what she did, she has to leave her science food restaurant to go save him!

Our Take

Overall, this was an outstanding week with Marge and Homer both breaking in some great jokes. Notable highlights include Homer’s FPS style run through the hallowed halls of E4 and Marge at the Ethiopian restaurant pissed off because the joint has the nerve to sell CDs at the counter. However, the winner might go to Gordon Ramsey’s shared dream(inception?) with Marge and waking up in a panic. The only downside to this episode is that there wasn’t enough of the chefs like there was with Jane Lynch last week, and I would’ve liked to have seen more. Having said that, I’ll worship anything Gordon Ramsey is in, mainly because I don’t want to be called a “Bloody ******”
