Review: The Movie Show Does Wingman
Despite this week’s title and synopsis implying that The Movie Show was going to do anything with the Top Gun: Maverick franchise, not a whole lot is mentioned about the upcoming Tom Cruise movie. Instead, Wade and Randy get into some sort of falling out about being each other’s wingmen and we spend most of the episode talking up Jaws, even inviting some jerk to come on set in a shark costume to be interviewed.
I loved the return of Rory Scovel, but I’m increasingly becoming disenfranchised by this series. The puppet characters are great, but the show doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s presented similarly to other Syfy talk show content, but you don’t learn anything new, and instead get a bunch of movie jokes that usually fall flat. Wade was tasked to interview other wingmen, but none of that happens, and instead he does a bit about dating that is equally as flat.
I’m hoping someone can turn this thing around, but who knows?
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
