Review: The Loud House “11 Louds a Leapin'”

Thanksgiving is over, so let’s kick off the Christmas specials!

Spoilers Below

The rest of the Louds are going nuts for Christmas leaving Lincoln to have to call Clyde in an attempt to get his slide back from his cranky neighbor’s yard. After a few tries, Clyde breaks into his neighbor’s house to get his sled but learns that Mr. Grouse used to have a killer sled of his own. Grouse captures Clyde who drops his sled and smashes it into pieces. While the neighbor is trying to call Clyde’s mom, Grouse forces the kids to clean up his mess. A phone call comes in and we learn that Grouse hasn’t seen his family for five years due to the fact that it’s too expensive to travel.

Clyde heads home and tells the rest of his family the situation and they agree to help. Later that night, the whole lot sings Grouse a holiday carol, decorate his house, and a paid bus ticket to see his family! As a token of his appreciation, Grouse returns all of the stuff he’s taken off his yard over the years that belonged to the Loud family. On Christmas morning, Lloyd gets a brand-spanking new sled courtesy of Santa…and maybe he’ll get it back one day.

Our Take

The Loud House Christmas special features all of the features you want in a rather atypical Christmas special. Warm-hearted ending that’s all about the spirit of giving with Grouse filling the role of the classic “Mr. Scrooge” archetype. I gotta say, I can’t get over the character designs and backgrounds of the show as it looks like I’m literally reading the funny pages of my local paper. And yea anyone that has had a bunch of brothers and sisters and other young families over for the holidays can sympathize with the Loud House in terms of the number of crazy antics going on at any given time.

With a stout cast, classic look, and funny moments, Loud House could be the beginning of a turn around for Nick Animation.
