Review: The Great Adventures of Kounterklockwise “Pilot”

This might be one to keep an eye on.

Set in the city of Cleveland, OH, the pilot tells of alien cat-like Princess Lily who is tasked with getting help from Kounterklockwise.

The cast of characters are mostly parodies of what TV viewers see day-to-day from ‘thug rappers’ and stressed out reporters to trigger-happy cops. What’s funnier than the interactions characters have with each other is how close specific characters come to portraying their real-life counterparts. Each has their own little ‘secret’ that isn’t kept very well.

The show is produced and directed by Deacon Burns, one half of the Cleveland Heights-based Punk-Hop duo Kounterklockwise that consists of Burns and his wife Kaya Rogue, and animated by Paul Pate (paulpate.com). The music is written together by the duo with exception of the “Repo Man” instrumental which was produced by DJ Wak.

While the show is funny and the characters make the audience laugh, it was difficult at first to tell what the story was about. I would have preferred if the storyline were a little clearer, as it took a couple of views to really get it. Regardless, one can enjoy it even if it doesn’t fully make sense at first glance.
