Review: The Fairly OddParents “Knitwits”; “Dadlantis”

I’m very much looking forward to Harvey Beaks coming back sooner rather than later.

Spoilers Below

 “Knitwits”

Timmy and his family take Chloe and the fairies on a cruise, and for the majority of the trip everyone’s kind of miserable because it’s a cruise meant for elderly people. Both Catman and Cosmo have to deal with potential threats to their ladies, but I was pretty bored through the entire bit.

“Dadlantis”

In a way more entertaining episode, Timmy’s dad is thrown out of the house for playing his newly found bongos way too many times thereby causing earthquakes. Timmy and Chloe decide to head to the ocean so as to clean it for good grades on a project. The duo turn into mermaids, and it isn’t long before we meet more mermaids. At first, the mermaids are nice, but when Mr. Turner shows up with his bongos…it’s WAR! Turner gets trapped in an oyster and the kids gotta set him free before he gets eaten.

Our Take

First of all, I’m getting a bit annoyed with Nicktoon’s shitty episode listings. Seriously, the episodes that are supposed to air are different on TV listings, whether online or on TV, Wikipedia, and a whole lot more. It’d be nice if someone knew what the hell was going on here.

In any event, “Knitwits: was garbage, but “Dadlantis” was quite a bit better in the laughs department. The episode premise is rather ordinary, probably one of the more popular examples of this type is the “Bird is the Word” gag on Family Guy. It wouldn’t be the first time this series has lifted from the FOX series, if you don’t believe me, see Adam West’s take on “Catman” in the first half. It’s essentially the Mayor Adam West character that borrows more from the actor’s heyday as Batman.
