Review: The Casagrande’s “Squawk in the Name of Love; Date With Destiny”

Overview

“Squawk in the Name of Love”.

Sergio enlists Adelaide’s help to become a gentleman in order to win Priscilla back…

“Date With Destiny”

Rosa hears a prediction from a famous TV Psychic Ernesto Estrella (George Lopez) that Maria and Arturo could get back together…

Our Take

Much of the humor comes from a series of comedic mishaps and miscommunications. We have your by-the-numbers plot of the “dude trying to impress the girlfriend’s parents” schtick that’s been done in other sitcoms & films. But here, instead of people, it’s Sergio the talking parrot trying to impress a female Ostrich in a local Zoo.

As for the other episode, the humor heavily relied on the vague predictions of a famous Psychic which also lead to a series of comedic mishaps, But this time around, many of the family members who are on board with this vague prediction are quick to make such assumed conclusions of what the prediction itself could actually mean.

Overall, if there’s anything both of these episodes have in common it’s that they both are rife with romantic comedy cliches you’d come to expect from something like this. I think while the first one was predictable in places, the other had a meaningful and wholesome ending even if things didn’t go completely the way Ronnie imagined…
