Review: The Casagrande’s “Chancla Force; Fluff Love”

Overview

“Chancla Force”

Carl takes Rosa’s Chanclas (Sandals), setting off the balance of anarchy within the household, and calling the Chancla Force into action…

“Fluff Love”

Carlitos goes on a wild adventure to get his desired plush toy from an arcade claw machine…

Our Take

For the first episode, it reminded me a bit of an old Powerpuff Girls episode with the way it was structured in a similar manner regarding the loop-hole of how having no rules can work both ways, though I do find it funny that two generations of this family are scared shitless over yellow sandals worn by their elderly matriarch to set them straight with an unexpected twist in combination with a Star Wars parody at the end.

The second episode felt almost like a throwback to the “Mindy & Buttons” segments from Animaniacs as the focus of the story this time around was towards the newborn child Carlitos who goes on a personal quest to get his hands on a plush toy that seems a bit impossible to obtain while their family dog attempts to feverishly keep the kid out of danger, but during a series of comedic setpieces, Carlitos learns a profound lesson about making uneasy choices…

Overall, both were decent episodes that did their job in terms of what lessons they both conveyed. I think I had a good laugh with both even if their respective twist-endings felt a bit predictable in different ways.
