Review: The Amazing World Of Gumball “The List”

Did Chris Jericho write this?

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

When Gumball & Darwin find out that Nicole’s life hasn’t panned out as she’d hoped, so they start taking on her chores and accidentally grab her bucket list instead of her to-do list. Much of the episode at that point is spent on a series of comedic setpieces due to Gumball & Darwin’s simple-minded nature in fulfilling what’s written on her list of unfulfilled ambitions without realizing they’re not actual chores. The montage is decently paced but they do get into some random, funny & crazy adventures.

However, It isn’t until the third act is where they’re left with one more ambition and this is where Nicole confronts the two and clarifies they got the wrong list as the bucket list they mistakingly took was something she wrote at the age of 16. Afterward, Gumball & Darwin decide to fulfill the last thing on the list with their mother and use the power of the internet to help her see the world through internet satellite maps which was easily the best moment as it’s both funny & heartfelt. The episode ends when Nicole gives them the actual chore list much to Gumball & Darwin’s disappointment.

Our Take

This was a funny episode. The jokes worked, and the ambitions Nicole listed on her bucket list while sounding unattainable, left me laughing hard at the ways Gumball & Darwin went the extra mile to fulfill them. Nicole’s last ambition to see the world was what caught me off guard as it helped them simulate the experience of traveling the world while displaying the technological advancements of what 21st-century internet can offer to people who can’t leave their homes.
