Review: Squidbillies “There’s Sucker Porn Every Minute”/”Events by Russell”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“There’s Sucker Porn Every Minute”

Krystal becomes a porn star and she wants Early to be a co-star and while at first, he’s unsure about the gig, he eventually warms up to the financial gains that can be gained in the process and opts to go solo. Benefits include money, internet fame, and a whole bunch of free shit from adoring fans. None of those fans are Boyd and his church members who decide to go to the motel in which Early films and protest. Rusty decides to put a stop to Early’s shenanigans samurai-style because that shit’s gross.

“Events by Russell”

Rusty’s got a profitable business going on down at the bar where he throws parties and Early wants in as the DJ. Rusty wants nothing to do with his dad because he’s just gonna ruin it, but after Granny convinces him, the two go into business together. After a quick split, Early tries to start his own business which ends in disaster and ruins Rusty’s job in the process. The two get into a fistfight which ends in Rusty going all MacGruber and ripping everyone’s throats only nobody dies and instead just get throat mics.

Our Take

And that’s a wrap kids! Season 12 is in the books and Squidbillies shows no signs of slowing down and we’re all better for it. Both episodes this week showcased the show’s increased nature to be just as gross, violent, and slippery as anything else on television and I’m very much looking forward to more episodes in the future. The production element is even becoming a bit crazier especially with that outrageous fight climax in the latter episode which showed elements that I’m not quite sure Awesome, Inc, had showcased before. We’ll get into more of that in the season review, but the direction showed on the monster truck races in the previous episodes, and now with the throat-ripping sequences, is a sign of things to come where I think the Squidbillies  franchise is ready to be in that next level conversation of series to get excited about in the future.
