Review: Squidbillies “The Liceman Cometh” ; “This Show Was Called Squidbillies”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

The Liceman Cometh

Early has a collection of hats that may or may not be spreading lice all over Dougal County. The town begs both the Sheriff and Danny to do something about this which eventually leaves to an angry mob showing up to Early’s house and spawning a hat monster that gets burned to a crisp.

This Show Was Called Squidbillies

Rusty wants to marry Tammy and move but when the news hits Granny, she drops dead cold. After the funeral, the ghost of Granny gives Rusty her ring and then both Rusty and the family takes off with Early’s truck. Early gets beaten by the spirits of his parents and Rusty lives happily ever after.

Our Take

That’s all she wrote, folks. We’ll go into more depth in our season review, but clearly Squidbillies’ 13th season was by far the unluckiest. It never really could work with Tracy Morgan, and again I love Tracy Morgan, but Early had a soul with Unknown Hinson that just couldn’t be replaced. In any event, both episodes featured some decent laughs to help ease the pain, but I am somewhat miffed that Unknown Hinson got no sort of send-off. I mean, even when Charlie Sheen went nuts on Two and a Half Men, they did a bit of a nod on the show’s final season that featured the way less funny Ashton Kutcher. That’s kinda what we got here, the Michael Scott-less seasons of The Office and the Charlie Sheen-less seasons of Two and a Half Men.
