Review: SpongeBob SquarePants “The Flower Plot”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
The Chum Bucket is replaced by a flower shop with a charming new owner.

Our Take:
Many things have happened to the two business rivals, Mr. Krabs and Plankton, during their ever-lasting feud. Most of them even came close to shutting either one or both down for good. However, this week’s episode has a scenario that actually resulted in one of their businesses being permanently replaced. Thankfully, it wasn’t the Krusty Krab. However, this sudden change could mean the end of their rivalry, for better or worse, although for Mr. Krabs, it’s mainly the former.
The episode consists of Plankton and Karen closing down the Chum Bucket and moving away to travel across the world instead of taking it over. While SpongeBob is depressed by this news, Mr. Krabs is relieved that he won’t have to deal with Plankton stealing his Krabby Patty secret formula. However, Krabs’ celebration cuts itself short when the demolished Chum Bucket is replaced by the flower shop, FlowerPot Florist, owned by the gorgeous florist Petunia.
The humor consists of SpongeBob and the others being charmed by Petunia’s good nature and love for flowers, mainly Squidward, who’s head over heels for her. However, it turns out that Petunia is actually Plankton in disguise, which is part of his latest scheme to steal the secret formula from Krabs. This reveal makes Squidward’s shocking reaction at the end of the episode undoubtedly hilarious. Unfortunately for his computer wife Karen, Plankton’s plan takes a hard left turn when he suddenly decides to change careers and become a full-time florist. Well, that is until he thwarted his own plan to blow up the Krusty Krab with a bouquet full of explosives.
“The Flower Plot” is another enjoyable episode involving Plankton ruining his chance to turn over a new leaf. It was pretty obvious that Plankton suddenly closing up shop seemed fishy (no pun intended), and his new robot disguise as Petunia sealed the deal. However, that didn’t stop me from enjoying the flowery and cartoony mishaps caused by Plankton’s temporary career change and everyone’s affection toward the “florist”.
