Review: SpongeBob SquarePants- “Sanitation Insanity”

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

After a monumental trash-disposing mishap that gets the attention of the “Trash Police”, Mr. Krabs makes his employees Spongebob and Squidward clean up Bikini Bottom.

Our Take

Like most under-handed Boss cliche’s that you’ve often seen in fiction, It’s clear that Mr. Krabs is frequently the type who cuts corners to achieve his goals, and this is kinda standard for him at this point to have his employees do his dirty work to spare him doing any actual work himself.

While a good portion of the episode’s running time is spent on a well-paced montage of the two being subjected to cleaning up the rest of their under-sea town, it does excel with its share of comedic moments. Even if the art style remains just as colorful & scattershot, but remains consistently and Iconic for those who followed the series for years.

Near the end of the episode, it does lead to one of the funnier scenes where it decently parodies Mech-Anime, but given the chain of events that lead to this particular moment, It’s not without consequences when they let their immaturity get the better of them. Also, points to the writers for the funny homage to the “Talking Tina” Twilight Zone reference in the form of a creepy talking doll.

Overall, “Sanitation Insanity” was an ok episode. In theory, this would’ve been shorter and the huge mishap indirectly caused by Mr. Krabs’s careless attitude could’ve been avoided if Krabs got another Trash Bag to begin with, but we wouldn’t have an episode otherwise.
