Review: Sex Swing “Make Them Wet”

Soaked.

Spoilers Below

Episode 3 of Sex Swing, “Make Them Wet,” delivers more of the off-the-wall antics and well-honed puns that are by now part of a formula that’s becoming clearer and pulling into sharper focus.

Last week’s episode saw our heroes tragically broke and in pursuit of a paying gig. This one, and I strongly suspect the remainder of the series, begins with the same premise: Starving artists attempt to make good on bad luck.

This episode opens with the band rocking out on stage at a waterpark, sounding tight and putting on a good show. Unfortunately, there’s only member of the audience, an unaccompanied infant whose cries are taken for criticism by the band. Tommy lets loose with a classic insult and labels the child a “condom malfunction.”

To add further insult to the injury, the band’s manager, Max, appears and informs them that the venue can’t pay for the performance that’s already been delivered.

The band does get an alternative arrangement, however: they can operate the park for the remainder of the day and collect the profits. The park, however, is in sorry shape: badly maintained and unsafe, the operation is hardly improved by the band’s contributions. They get ready to run the park, going through a boot camp-like series of exercises.

Tommy operates a concession stand alongside a moody teenager, and loses it over food allergies. Spunkie overdoes it as the ticket seller. Jamez chases women at the expense of a waterslide’s safety. Schling gets married to an underwater world dweller.

Total take: 1 ticket, 1 corndog, 2300 fatalities. The band ends the episode rocking out in cell block A.

It will be interesting to see whether this forms the beginning of a longer story arc. In the meantime, though, viewers can continue to enjoy Sex Swing’s single-episode hijinks without having to remember anything from last week.
