Review: RWBY Chibi “A Slip Through Space And Time”

Down the rabbit hole.

Overview:

Nora drinks a whole thermos filled with espresso, which transports her to our world, where her spirit inhabits a small doll of hers. She is actually in the stock room for all of the Roosterteeth products, and she is saved from being discovered by a Jaune figure and a Ruby figure. They explain that in truth, their likenesses are worshipped and that there’s so much more that they don’t know. The one who taught them this was a doll of Pyrrha, and Jaune offers to tell Nora how the truth is— but she retreats back into the box.

Back in the animated world, Nora wakes up in her body again, only to be scared by Pyrrha once she enters the room.

Score:

7/10

I really did enjoy this episode, because it’s a light but funny take on fan culture and merchandising. The characters have no idea they’re being heavily marketed, they’re not real, but they’re a kind of product. For them to be self-aware of this fact is terrifying, unless you’re in Gintama.

Matrix references galore, too. The jokes were funny and clever this time around, so it’s worth a watch.
