Review: Rick and Morty #3 (2023)

Overview

The invasion continues! War brews between the Goldenfold and Rick armies. Can the Ricks save their world with problem-solving science, or will the Goldenfolds subtract them from the equation? Yep, it’s still about math! Oh, and Morty’s new girlfriend seems…nice?

Our Take

The cool think about having a new ongoing Rick and Morty series is that even when an arc ends, it doesn’t mean there isn’t the possibility for more even if we get other mini-arcs to arise in the meantime. That appears to be what’s happening here as we more-or-less put a pin in the ongoing battle between math and science and instead focus on some of the collateral that had a chance to develop in the ashes of the war.

The next story will focus on the ramifications of Morty and Noelle’s relationship falling apart, and I’m here for it. Written by Alex Firer, I would have to imagine that this comic series could feature lots more cooks in the kitchen so it will be interesting to see if the quality stays apropo. A TON of new characters are on tap that can really turn this one on its head, it will be interesting to see where this series continues to go.
