Review: Red vs Blue “Sis and Tuc’s Sexellent Adventure”

Bad sex jokes.

Overview:

Tucker and Sis debate their casual fling, and use the time machine to set the record straight.

Our Take:

This episode was largely humor over plot, which is pretty standard for Red Vs. Blue. Unfortunately, there was so little plot that the episode largely felt superfluous. Tucker and Sister mostly discuss their relationship, specifically on their casual sex session and what counted and didn’t count. Tucker was hurt by Sister’s nonchalance and disregard of the situation, and they attempt to reach an agreement by going back in time and witnessing what happened.

Thing is, this is largely pointless. It may have explained a plot hole from a previous season, but that was a largely unmemorable point and doesn’t build off on their relationship going forward. This series does a lot of things for humor, and that’s perfectly fine, but having an entire episode based on pointless humor isn’t a good sign, especially for the start of the season. Sister is fun, but she hasn’t really been that relevant overall, and having an entire episode dedicated to a throwaway joke from many seasons back feels weak.

There isn’t really much to say here. While there’s always going to be people that would like to just mess around, this episode just felt unnecessary. There was no new information, no real meaningful interaction, and sadly, a lot of the humor just felt flat. This episode could have been mostly skipped, and nothing really would have changed.

There is the issue that pizza no longer exists in their universe, and when that is more impactful than the subject that takes up more screentime, that’s a problem. Overall, this episode highlights a lot of the weaknesses of the season: flat jokes and not enough time spent meaningfully. I sincerely hope the rest of the season improves from here, but when compared to how strong the establishing episodes were last season– this just feels disappointing.
