Review: Red vs Blue “Objects in Space”

Volleyballs are your friends now.

Spoilers Below:

As Lopez floats through space, he recites the Star Trek title sequence. He is beamed up by a spaceship and is afraid of the person running it.

Back on the planet, Griff has constructed an entire team out of volleyballs and is holding fake conversations with them all. He has come up with another one of their usual scenarios, involving a missing tank, and is providing voiceovers of everyone to make things more accurate. As he gathers them all, he starts to apologize, before someone appears, and calls him crazy.

It’s Locus, and Griff is terrified. Locus says that if what Lopez says is true, then Griff will need his help. Once Griff realizes that Locus is real, he starts peppering him with questions. Locus doesn’t have all the answers, but he’s ready to go.

With the volleyballs also in tow, Griff starts asking questions rapid-fire, having been starved of conversation for so long. He notes that sometimes doing the right thing is hard, and Locus replies that he’s suddenly very aware of that.

Overview:

Someone finally has learned how to speak Spanish.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Griff, and he hasn’t been doing so well. In the end, he really misses his friends, no matter how much they ended up annoying him, enough that he’s constructed replicas of them out of volleyballs. While before he was totally unwilling to fight at all, as soon as Locus tells him that his friends are in danger, he jumps at the opportunity. He wants to see everyone again, Simmons especially, and he also wants to apologize for abandoning them. He’s gone a little loopy, but his heart’s in the right place.

Also, the Star Trek reference at the start was hilarious.
