Review: Red vs Blue “Docudrama”

Good old title cards.

Overview:

As the team debates over how to deal with Atlas, Jax shoots a documentary.

Our Take:

At King Atlas’ request, the team must come back together for negotiations. The team miraculously reassembles by chance, but they still have to come to a conclusion. The one who is surprisingly into it is Grif, who has gained the trust of Huggins. He doesn’t believe in King Atlas, or anything that he says, but he at the very least trusts Huggins.

Donut finally apologizes, expressing his regret of what he’s done to everyone, not just to a captive audience. It also happens to be rife with innuendo, as per the usual Donut. He says that he completely disapproves of what he’s done, and will make sure that he doesn’t do so again. This is believable, as he has come to regret his actions before, but he’s also on the side that opposes the Pantheon. If the team ends up agreeing with King Atlas, then Donut will have to choose sides.

Jax also attempts to map out the timelines, and see what the consequences are if any. It turns out that he’s been stealing the time machine for his own purposes, so he’s not just a passerby in the situation. He is curious to see how things are affected by these radical changes, but not worried enough to not try meddling. It doesn’t seem like they’re in danger, but then again, they don’t know the whole story.

Washington also says that he’s happy to be back. He is sincerely joyful to be back with the gang again, and even though everyone is their usual chaotic selves, it’s what Wash is used to. He is comfortable around them, and after his prior experience in being traumatized by watching his death over and over again on Jax’s set, this is something positive. Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember the end of last season, so he has forgotten crucial details. One, in particular, is Church, and how the SOS signal had been forged. He asks after their mission in looking for Church, which bewilders the rest of the team. Carolina is quick to push the topic under, but sooner or later, Wash’s memory will have to be addressed.

When they meet Atlas, they are under a certain level of protection, knowing they can’t be harmed. At the same time, they request more information, needing to be convinced to give up arms. Atlas ends the episode by starting his story, and hopefully, we find more about the Pantheon next week.
