REVIEW: PHINEAS AND FERB “This Is Your Backstory”

Agent P quickly figures out there is more to Norm’s odd reality show that celebrates the eventful life of his creator Dr. Doofenshmirtz, which is recreated through flashbacks and special guests.

Spoilers Below

The kids are playing table tennis with Candace just WAITING for a screw up but, where’s Perry?? He’s at the movies with Doof set to explore the evil scientist’s back story and find out who he really is and what makes him tick. We start the show by meeting Doof’s mother and doctor both of whom smack Doof on the ass. Doof’s dad however is nowhere to be found and we learn that he wasn’t all that great of a father anyway. That said, the mayor of Danville shows up aka Roger Doof and its here we find out that the great Doctor was often shunned in his upbringing in favor of him. Worst yet, Doof never had any friends going up which made birthdays and bullies easy to come by. Thankfully, Doof befriended a balloon named ‘Baloony’ who shows up to die(not really, it was actually three weeks earlier) , but then we see Doof’s first “Inator”. At first his science experiments were never first place material, so Doof gets into being a filmmaker RIGHT when Perry is about to get up and leave the theater. This causes Perry to get trapped with the ticking time bomb being a few back stories to set off his new WMD.

Candace is still waiting but we get to see a bit of a touching montage with Vanessa. Next, we get what might have been one of the first viral videos ever but that didn’t stop him from getting a date with Madonna before she was famous. Doof’s love life has never been hot stuff but at least he gets an alimony check from his ex-wife Charlene. This is followed by an “Inator” montage which helps build up his current “Inator” and turns Doof into like a Hulk-Doof. That said, another montage ensues where Perry and Doof get along which wears off the ‘Hulkness’ and yes Phineas and Ferb are still playing table tennis…or are they?

This was a lot of fun, and I thoroughly enjoyed my 23 minutes of JUST Doof! I really do think this cat is a laugh riot but I’m not gonna lie I kinda felt sorry for the evil fella going through his back story and seeing some of the great doctor’s hardships. I mean, everyone deserves a friend including evil geniuses don’t they? That said, this was a good episode but near the end it kind of turned into a clip show, which is fine, I just felt like “Hey look at that ” and BOOM “seen this before”. However, any episode with Norm(John Viener) as the host is a winner and this week’s episode was just that!
