Review: Our Cartoon President “The Best People”

We are, very busy people.

Overview(Spoilers Below)

Donald Trump just wants the best people to boss around and work with so he puts his entire cabinet through a slew of obstacles to prove their worth. Eventually, they all just resign anyway, but come back because that’s what cockroaches do.

Meanwhile, Stephen Miller decides to ask Ted Cruz for a new look which really is just a toupee upon his bald 30-year-old head. It actually works so well that it fools Donald into thinking that Stephen is someone else and as such allows the new look Stephen replace old look Stephen on a temporary basis. Sensing a hot free agent when he sees it, Stephen Miller is asked back to the fold to continue to push Donald’s agenda.

Our Take

Makeover bits and obstacle courses are common tropes in the animation business and have been used countless times in the past by numerous other series. That said, I can’t help but chuckle at all of the condescending wordplay at the behest of Stephen Miller. Like the writers REALLY go nuts on Stephen probably even more so than the President and the rest of his staff(his kids probably get the most attention). Yes, while cliche, Stephen’s makeover bit provided for some good chuckles as did the tad more gruesome A-plot featuring the cabinet.  This week’s episode may not have had the best ideas, but with no new episodes of The Simpsons on for the next couple of months, it’s a solid series to keep track of at the exact same timeslot until the FOX series comes back.
