Review: Mighty Magiswords “Docky & Buford’s Decidedly Pathetic Adventure”

Was this episode “decidedly pathetic”?

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

The sleazy salesmen Docky Boardman and Buford want to beef up business for the Rhyboflaven Boardwalk, but during their efforts to seek out a new attraction/mascot, they get eaten by a mammoth-sized sheep with ram-horns called a “Ramblyboo” and it’s up to the Warrior-siblings to get them out.

Our Take

The Animation and story like most episodes on this show move at a brisk pace while delivering with genuine humor in places. A good chunk does devote it’s running time on Docky & Buford along with their encounters inside the creature as it’s revealed to have “four stomachs” with one of them having a surprise even the two didn’t expect.

While we do see a lot of Magiswords in action with Prohyas & Vambre putting them to their most elaborate uses in clever and creative ways, but design-wise the “Ramblyboo” is a cute otherworldly animal that could easily pass as a cute plush toy.

In terms of voice acting, the performances are strong with the humor & character moments, especially the scenes with Docky & Buford’s character interactions making them as comedically pathetic as their titular adventure, Though I was more shocked that Voice Acting legend Jim Cummings voiced Buford as his voice was the most distinctive and recognizable for me and a lot of people in their childhoods.

Overall a decent episode with a lot of entertainment value while introducing a new character in the form of the Ramblyboo creature, though the twist about one of its stomachs raises a lot of interesting questions which I hope they’ll touch upon in later episodes.
