Review: Marvel’s Spider-Man “Goblin War – Part Two”

Overview (Spoilers Below)

While Ghost Spider and Spider-Girl are canvassing Manhattan looking for Goblin Nation members, Spidey and Hobgoblin/Harry Osborn are headed through a tunnel once owned by Norman Osborn. Spidey starts to suspect that Harry may be springing a trap on him, supported by research as done by Doc Ock who is already super jealous of all the time that Harry and Peter are spending together.

We come to learn that the leader of the Goblin Nation is, in fact, Vulture. The scientist takes his Goblin Nation to their next mission point and nearly kills Spider-Man and Hobgoblin in the process and we find out that Electro may have taken Ghost Spider and Spider-Girl hostage.

Our Take

I swear every villain and hero is a god damn robot in this show. This leads to drab character designs and cliche fight scenes that are boring and sloppily produced. Everyone’s voice is starting to irritate me as well, I’ve lamented Scott Menville’s Doc Ock for several weeks now, but now it’s time for me to call out Melanie Minichino’s “reading off the script” sounding take of Spider-Girl. Moreover, the character really is a cliche of your typical “gadget geek” type that you’d see in any one of the Marvel Animated TV series.

We are two weeks away from the season two finale of Marvel’s Spider-Man, and not that I’m giving any credence to the likelihood that Marvel Television Animation is going to get Venom correct because they haven’t yet anyway, but anything’s gotta be better than the weekly episodes of Battleborgs we’re going through now.
