Review: Marvel’s Spider-Man “Bring on the Bad Guys: Part 4”

Well, this shit’s a mess.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

This week we see Peter headed to a science fair but his trip is interrupted by Electro. She beats the hell out of him and takes a device of his that turns her into a bolt of electricity that terrorizes both Spider-Man and the fair. Fortunately, Spider-Man is able to drain her powers long enough to take a detour and finally find out who is behind putting the bounty on his head.

It’s the Chameleon! Voiced by Patton Oswalt!! Yes, turns out the Chameleon has a chip implanted in his mask that turns him into other people which he uses to his advantage to frame Spider-Man and attempt to apprehend him for some sort of dark-shadowy figure, however, Spidey’s able to defeat the shapeshifter just in time for school.

Our Take

Whenever Disney XD producers take on creative license on the villains they are trying to adapt from either comics or film, the results are usually disastrous and that’s definitely the case here. Electro is a mess and was even worse when turned into the bolt of electricity that made her look like a poorly drawn anime-take on Sonic the Hedgehog, The depiction is wildly unimaginative, poorly acted, and usually indicative of the piss poor work that Disney is capable of. Chameleon was pretty bad as well, but at least is a little closer to correct than Electro was. Fortunately, we got a pretty cool surprise cameo at the end which almost makes up for it, but not quite.
