Spoilers Below

The Guardians of the Galaxy are trying to escape a dragon…in…SPACE! Thanks to Rocket they do, but as the furry guy is trying to repair the ship of damages, The Collector shows up and meets with the Guardians. They strike a deal that sends Rocket and a first round pick in exchange for an engineer robot, location of a crystal that unlocks Star Lord’s box, and repairs to the ship. As Rocket stays behind in his new home, the rest of the Guardians head to an asteroid to get the crystal, but come under attack. The crew has to escape the mouth closing by going through the asteroid-monster’s asshole…yep a fart.

We find out that The Collector has made Rocket part of his collection by using of an electronic dog collar and when the Guardians find out, they go back to get their friend. Rocket gets out just fine, and he decides to free the rest of The Collector’s zoo captives, which includes the dragon from earlier. Rocket is able to wrangle the dragon and make it serve him, leaving The Collector to adhere to Rocket’s demands. The Guardians leave The Collector’s locale, but not without taking a few things first.

Our Take

Not only do we have two different voices for The Collector in the Marvel Animation hour, but this version of The Collector is a dick whereas the one in Spider-Man is doing his best to try and save Planet Earth. I think it’s safe to say, the book on continuity has been thrown the fuck out.

In any event, I’m kind of disappointed in the fact that after three villains the best effort that the producers of this show could come up with is a motherfucking dragon. A DRAGON?? You mean to tell me in all of the Marvel Universe, a friggin’ dragon is the thing we come away with for this show?

That said, I actually enjoyed the premise of the show, and Rocket was pretty funny. How the hell he managed to find pellets in space is beyond me, and the farting asteroid monster was legit. But, we’re three episodes in, and next week we are going after The Grandmaster and it’s going to be interesting to see how they plug him in.
