Review: Human Kind of S1: Eps 4-6

What about Mason?

Overview (Spoilers Below)

This week’s trio of episodes deals with a floating arc revolving around Judy continuing to discover her alien powers i.e. mandibles, the ability to cough through time, and that she turns alien every time she becomes attracted to someone. Not only is her hormones going nuts, but even her mother is starting to flirt with the possibility of finding a special someone. After working hard to get a date, Judy discovers the guy she was initially attracted to is a douche and instead opts to focus more on herself as she continues through her transformation into that of a woman…who is also an alien.

Our Take

The dichotomy of that of an animated comedy with almost Degrassi like presentation is very refreshing. Almost like Daria stirred with Rick and Morty, Human Kind Of continues to do a fine job of traversing through the parallel elements of a teenage girl trying to discover who she is but in more than just the normal ways that we see in the realms of relationships, etc. Rather, she’s trying to come to grasp with her new found powers which are both hilarious and substantial in its delivery.
