Review: Harvey Beaks “Later, Dingus” ; “Hair to Help”

She asks me why,  I’m just a hairy guy.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“Later, Dingus”

Fee’s pal Blister dies, but Fee thinks it’s just Blister’s master prank ala Andy Kaufman. Eventually, we find out that Blister really did pass away, but when Fee is left Blister’s belongings, she gets a nice note and an entertaining way in which to say goodbye for good.

“Hair to Help”

Tara doesn’t want to cut hair at her salon anymore, so it’s up to Harvey and Piri Piri to reinvigorate her love of hair so that she can get back in there and do her job. The kids decide to take Tara to a convention where she takes part in a contest that causes her to hallucinate an image of her 80s self that helps explain what Tara must do to get back to what she loves. It works, Tara wins the competition, and goes back to her gig.

Our Take

I liked the premise of “Later, Dingus” more so than the one for “Hair to Help”. The latter episode was kinda run-of-the-mill and rather bland in its execution. “Later, Dingus” was alright, but I think would’ve worked better as a 22-minute episode that would’ve maybe seen the writers really expand on the ups and downs of Fee as she deals with the loss of Blister. Probably a missed opportunity to do something TRULY special, because I think it would’ve been pulled off quite well and maybe become a high point of the season.
