Review: Gary And His Demons “Grundleman”

MUCH better.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

This week’s episode sees a clash between old school and new school supernatural folklore. On one hand, Grundleman, a fun derivative of the Slenderman craze, is hooking his way to the top in tween nightmares. On the other hand, Bloody Mary, who is now an informant with Gary’s agency and as such isn’t allowed to kill anyone while on the job…until now.

Meanwhile, Gary’s trying to groom Hanley into his heir so that the 45-year old can finally retire. While this week’s case showed some promise, it’s clear that Hanley has a long way to go.

Our Take

What a difference a day makes! Yep, all of a sudden this show got a LOT better. A lot of the animated technical challenges from the first episode didn’t seem to show up for episode two, and while Mark’s take as “Gary” is still a bit grating, it’s starting to grow on me in its efficiency in delivering a much-improved dialogue script. The premise for this week’s episode was strong though I would’ve liked to have seen the producers take on the actual Slenderman. In any event, Gary And His Demons now has me interested in more.
