The three jacquins are screwing around, as usual. Luna and Skylar are playing Monkey in the Middle with a bag of coconuts that Migs gathered. Skylar throws the bag to Luna, who isn’t paying attention, and they end up breaking a huge monument in the middle of town. The monument collapses, revealing a treasure buried beneath. Elena calls an emergency meeting of the Grand Council to handle the situation.

Professor Mendoza examines the site. She finds out that it’s an ancient Meruvian chamber. The Meruvians were an ancient race who mysteriously disappeared. Esteban wants to just repair the road and get life back to normal. Naomi thinks they should examine the site further. As his usual dickish self, Esteban belittles Naomi’s opinion, even though she is on the same Council he is. Elena decides that they should find out more about it and puts Naomi in charge of the project. Of course, Elena and Esteban tag along to help out.

It turns out that these chambers are the prisons of three duende brothers. Each of these elf-like creatures has a gem that, when combined, opens a tunnel to the duende world. If that should happen, thousands of duendes would take over all of Avalor, maybe even the world.

Pretty much the same thing happens for each of the chambers. The group finds it, Naomi wants to form a plan, Esteban completely ignores Naomi, and the duende brother is freed. Yes, Esteban is an awful person. Thankfully, Elena calls him on it. She points out that he has done everything that Naomi said not to. Now that Esteban has freed all of the duende brothers, he is willing to listen to Naomi and the group manages to save the world.

While I’m still not a huge fan of the show, this episode was rather awesome. We don’t get to see a lot of Naomi and this was a great way to have her live up to the potential that Elena sees in her. I just wish that they would tone down Esteban a bit. He seems to live to destroy everything. For someone who wants to rule Avalor, it’s too over the top, even for a cartoon.
