Review: Camp WWE “Deep Slaughter”

BURN IT ALL DOWN!

Overview (Spoilers Below)

On the season finale of Camp WWE, we get a spooky episode that sees Vince McMahon running from Paul Bearer and the spirits of Camp WWE. With the help of newspaper reporter John Cena, he’s able to dispel the spirits, but then the camp burns to the ground so…

Our Take

Just in case if you kids were counting at home, the animated take on “The Rock” has been shown in the opening credits every episode of this series and I don’t think we’ve seen him once. Yes, we’ve been getting an uptick in Paige, but wouldn’t this week’s episode have been swell if Paul Bearer introduced Kane or if the Undertaker was more involved than just a few lines?

I will say this was the most badass of the John Cena episodes, especially when the producers did the montage with his entrance theme and he took off to save Vince McMahon. But, how is it we have a show that has a list of WWE Superstars at its disposal longer than the Declaration of Independence, but NONE of them are used? Wouldn’t be great if we had animated takes on AJ Styles, or Chris Jericho, or Brock Lesnar? Instead, we use the same five characters every week, and it’s still Vince McMahon who gets all the best stuff in this show. If Vinnie Mac dies tomorrow, Camp WWE would be useless. Ric Flair and the Sarge are so overused, and even the take on Paul Bearer was a tad in poor taste.

I did enjoy the camp being burned to the ground as it gives me hope a bit of a story arc has developed OR that we got the official cliffhanger that ends the show for good leaving fans wanting more, but this show needs to be a bit more creative in it’s execution with all of the characters not named Vince McMahon.
