Review: Bravest Warriors “Himmel Mancheese”

MMmm….cheese.

Spoilers Below

The second episode of the season shows us what the rest of the Warriors have been up to while Chris was away. It has been six months since Chris left. They searched for him but they have almost given up hope.

Now the Warriors are taking Wallow’s friend, Himmel Mancheese, to Venus Five to marry a girl from an online dating site. Unfortunately, Venus Five has a weird fire that shows up every so often…like an earthquake. While the Warriors are on Venus Five, they are permitted to take advantage of the planet’s liberal policies regarding “Sassy Num Nums.” (They mean kissing!) Wallow is excited but Danny doesn’t seem too into it.

It turns out that Himmel’s new bride is Queen Linda. Himmel is separated from the rest of the Warriors, much to his dismay. See, he bonded with Wallow when he created a new jellyfish arm for Wallow out of his own body. However, Wallow is completely blind to Himmel’s feelings.

As Plum and Beth decorate the wedding venue, Impossibear practices his song. For some reason, he also has pyrotechnics for the affair. Pacey, a local that can see into the future through a toilet paper tube, sees that Danny and Beth will have lots of Sassy Num Nums in the future. When Pacey starts to get bullied by some other locals, Beth steps in. She asks to hear Pacey’s predictions. Unfortunately, they are a little too true, making both Danny and Beth feel uncomfortable.

Later, Danny talks to Wallow about relationships and whether one should be tied down or be a free agent. That is when Wallow starts noticing his own feelings for Himmel. Pacey predicts that Wallow be lonely for the rest of his life because he is about to lose someone close to him. As a result, Wallow bursts into Himmel’s room to find out why Himmel is doing this. The two begin to argue until Himmel is late for his wedding ceremony. When Queen Linda has her guards force their way into Himmel’s room, they find Wallow nakedly professing his love for Himmel inside Himmel’s jellyfish body. It is as weird as it sounds.

Heartbroken, Linda sentences Wallow and Himmel to death. Beth stops Danny from killing the queen. That is when they find out that Venus Five isn’t the beautiful planet they think it is. Linda has an Eden Cloak that disguises their gross planet with a pretty hologram. Beth uses Impossibear’s pyrotechnics to blow up the Eden Cloak, revealing the ugliness to everyone. Well, except for Pacey. He already knew about it.

Meanwhile, Wallow once again professes his love for Himmel. Himmel leaves his jellyfish body and puts himself into Wallow’s jelly arm. Himmel detaches the arm, shuts off the electricity, and gets them the hell out of there. However, Queen Linda isn’t happy that her planet (and people) aren’t beautiful anymore. Pacey points out that if they are all ugly then no one is ugly. Linda agrees and they begin to chase the Warriors (and Pacey) off their planet.

Before the Warriors get back on their ship, kid Danny’s time machine appears with a naked Chris inside. They all safely blast off, leaving the ugly meat planet behind.

Ah, the rest of the Warriors. We don’t always get to see what the rest of the group is doing when the story focuses on one or two characters. It was nice to see how everyone was faring while Chris was away. I’m also glad they addressed the loss of Wallow’s arm from last season. We also got to see some minor changes made from episode one. Before he left kid Danny, Chris told him to buy some sweaters. When Chris left that timeline, the Danny in the current timeline suddenly had on a sweater that he claims he wears all the time. Now we have to see what other changes there will be. I hope it won’t change the dynamics of the group too much. Also, I’m ready for Catbug to be back. It isn’t the same without him.
