Review: Bordertown “Viva Coyote” (S1Ep13)

We finally take this one out back…

Spoilers Below

Well, here we are – the supposed end of Bordertown as of right now. The season finale was “meh” at best in my eyes. The previews ramped it up as a fight of Pablo Barracuda versus El Coyote as having the number one most wanted slot from the border patrol. This fell short for numerous reasons.
For one, Pablo Barracuda had a small roll in this week’s episode. The most you saw of him was when he handed the Beheadsman his new axe. He briefly mentioned his disdain for having the number two slot against El Coyote. When El Coyote came into the picture, it was a flashback to when he saved Ernesto’s life by literally taking a bullet for him.

Secondly, the humor fell shorter than a midget at a Six Flags ride. It was almost non-existent in this episode.

I checked to see if I had a stick up my ass, but the MRIs show I didn’t. I just flat-out did not like this week’s episode. With it being the season finale, I semi-hate to say it, but good-riddance. It looked like a hard turn to try to make something work, but to no avail.
Looking back on this entire season, I did enjoy a couple (and I mean a COUPLE) episodes. Bordertown tends to blend too much humor that was already in play elsewhere (Family Guy). I would have loved to see more original ideas than I saw and I would have loved to hear more original jokes than I heard.
