Review: Bob’s Burgers “Ain’t Miss Debatin'”

Here’s what we thought of the second of two half-hours of Bob’s Burgers on FOX.

Spoilers Below

Tina gets invited to join the school’s debate team. They apparently need a girl on the team and their only girl quit. At first, Tina says she’s too busy on-again-off-again dating Jimmy Junior. When she sees Jimmy Junior talking to another girl, Tina joins the team. After she gets a little bit of help from the star of the debate team, Henry, Tina finds out that she is amazingly good at debate. She also finds a new boyfriend in Henry, even though she doesn’t really like him. The debate team goes on an overnight trip to debate another school. Tina ends up kissing another boy, which throws off her debate game. She confesses to Henry during the debate, effectively breaking up with him. They end up winning the debate, even though the other school tries to use their emotions against them.

While Tina is away, Louise and Gene start making a stop-action movie with some meat Bob dropped on the floor. Bob, Linda, and Teddy all get into making the movie with the kids. Even health inspectors, Hugo and Ron, join in. Despite the fact that the main star started rotting, the group made a pretty decent movie. If only they could find a way to keep raw meat from rotting under the lights.

Of the two episodes that aired together, this was the better one. It was interesting to see Tina debate, considering she isn’t the brightest of the Belcher kids. She even got a chance to date a boy that isn’t Jimmy Junior and kiss yet another boy! Over on the other side, I also enjoyed watching Louise find something she actually wanted to do that wouldn’t cause trouble. Louise is great at getting in trouble. It’s nice to see her do something normal once in awhile.
