Review: Big Hero 6 “Trading Chips/Mini Noodle Burger Max”

Overview

“Trading Chips”

Hiro switches Baymax’s chip with Mini-Max’s so that Baymax can rescue Mochi who’s gone missing due to a comedy of errors.

“Mini Noodle Burger Max”

A low-charged Baymax and Mini-Max join forces with Noodle Burger Boy to save Big Hero 6 due to an accident that forces them in a situation to team-up.

Our Take

In terms of storytelling, the former episode excelled in laughs with the series of comedic mishaps due to their Cat being missing, but the heart of the episode was about Mini-Max learning to play to his strengths despite how small his size is, and his enthusiastic ego often reminds me of Scrappy-Doo but less annoying. Also with a running joke that the mere mention of a “Vet” triggers Hiro’s family can Mochi into a crazed animal frenzy did give me a chuckle a few times.

The latter episode “Mini Noodle Burgar Max” had the primary focus of both the heroes and villains being stuck in a life or death scenario where they have to put their differences aside and work together for the sake of survival after a fight they both had trapped all of them in a stone avalanche underground.

Overall, both were passable episodes that were entertaining in different ways and the character development of Noodle Burger Boy putting his petty grudge aside is a typical cliche story we’ve often see in superhero stories where the hero and villain understand each other on a different level before resuming their roles as heroes & villains, so who knows what direction they’ll take after this.
