Review: Big Hero 6 “Krei-oke Night; The Mascot Upshot”

Overview

“Krei-oke Night;

Alistair Krei enlists Big Hero 6 to help launch his latest invention: a karaoke machine he calls “Kreioke”.

“The Mascot Upshot”

Hiro plans to defeat The Mascots once and for all by putting Mini-Max on an undercover mission…

Our Take

The former episode focus’s primarily on Alistair Krei being a douche that while not malicious in nature, has the constant inability to consider the consequences of his actions or put any effort into learning from past mistakes in terms of improving the conditions of his business. When he tries to sell his own Karaoke machine while also flaunting some sonic demolition device, it catches the attention of the Noodle Burgar Boy and his Robot Food Mascot team which leads to a fun singing montage of supporting characters throughout the show singing original songs, but it ends with a predictable yet funny plot-twist with how these two subplots intertwine.

As for the latter which is the final episode, Hiro is determined to put a stop to the Robot Mascots permanently, and after learning that they’re attempting to recruit another Robot for their devious plans, They send in Mini-Max to go undercover which progressively takes a series of plot twists even I wasn’t expecting. But at the end of the day, there’s at least some positive message about what the true definition of “Family” means to some people.

Overall, both episodes were fun and entertaining, and since Noodle Burger Boy has been a recurring villain throughout the show compared to the Team’s other supervillains Since Season 1, it feels quite symbolic that they would find a way to give the “Mascots” and by extension the show itself a wholesome yet respectable send-off before ending it.
