CAT COP!
CAT COP!

Spoilers Below

After nearly getting skinned by some hunters, Axe Cop and Flute cop head to a secret volcano and ask Bigfoot what the hell is going on around here. Unfortunately, when the guys get there they learn that The Extincter and his hunters have begun looking for Bigfoot and Axe needs to find him before they do.

Axe Cop’s journey eventually leads him to The Extincter’s hideout. His mission is to get the last of every species on Earth and eat their brains so that he can be the strongest animal in the world After telling this story, Axe Cop reveals that he just snagged three animal brains and is now an Axe Beast. A big ol’ fight ensues between Axe and The Extincter, and just as the crazy ex-zoologist is about to get the win, Bigfoot shows up and cleans house. Axe Cop is victorious, and he gives back the brains of every animal that lost one.

Our Take

Well, that just happened.

I have no idea where to begin on how out of control this week’s episode of Axe Cop was. Do I start with the ninja owls? How about the Skunk Monster? Or the homage to Werewolf vs Dracula with the climactic battle between Axe Cop and The Extincter? Wherever you start in, it feels like getting hit with pots and pans on the way over. The character designs for all of the animal characters were simply stellar, and the art direction for the battle at the end looked like it cost a million dollars all by itself. I could have used a little more about where the hell Bigfoot was this whole time, and Flute Cop’s deal seemed a lot of fun, but short. I also wasn’t completely sold on The Extincter, because he looked cool, sounded ok, but his agenda kind of fell flat. As a matter of fact, the plot was somewhat scatterbrained the entire run, but the action scenes more than made up for it.

In any case, a nice bounce back episode from last week’s.
