Another week, another new episode of Archer. Things are getting pretty interesting for our ragtag team of private investigators. An unlikely mysterious figure from Archer’s past has arrived and needs help. Did it make for a good episode? Read on to find out!

In Motherless Child “A mysterious stranger needs Archer’s help in finding his birth mother”.

This was an interesting episode. It continued the private investigation theme to a degree, but now it’s being woven into an ongoing story has stretched over the entire series. There wasn’t very much action in this episode. The draw of this episode weighs heavily on the intrigue of seeing what happens next between Archer and this particular character. Over seven seasons, this is the kind of episode a show can earn. Using the ground work that has been set up over seven seasons, you can now focus in on a character drama fueled by the tension of everything that came before it.

We’re starting to see a new relationship for between Cheryl and this character from Archer’s past. This episode seems to be marking the beginning of a journey for Malory. Sort of a pro that is also a con is that this episode is setting up episodes that we’ll see down the road. It’s something Archer does quite a bit and I enjoy it a lot because even though this is an animated comedy, it’s story is intriguing enough to bring me back week after week. On the other hand, I can see where one might say that this episode doesn’t work well on it’s own. It may be too much set up.

Overall, I think this is another good episode for Archer. It doesn’t have as much action as usual, but there is a lot of character development and drama. A lot of different characters are in different places by the end of this one and this episode could be the starting point to a lot of changes down the road. Maybe for the characters, maybe for the story.
