Review: American Dad “A Nice Night for a Drive”

A nice night leads to a good morning.

Spoilers Below

This week’s new American Dad! episode, “A Nice Night for a Drive” was really funny and highly enjoyable. The cold open was hilarious, with Klaus being diagnosed with “Fish Cough” amidst a super funny sequence at the vet’s office.

It turns out that the medical and life-saving procedure to cure Fish Cough is thousands of dollars, which Stan claims he doesn’t have (despite the fact that Stan recently put a talking navigation system in his SUV). Needless to say, Klaus gets jealous and takes Stan’s SUV. He then transfers himself into the navigation system of Stan’s SUV.

Meanwhile, Steve and his friends are doing lame pranks, so Roger’s fast food worker character challenges them to do REAL pranks. However, Steve and his friends do end up taking it up a notch (eggs off a bridge) and end up pranking an angry Roger family man character, who then terrorizes them for revenge.
There are so many funny lines– Stan talks about having his dick gnawed off, Steve has some great zingers, and of course, Roger’s characters are always so much better when they’re angry and insane. This is probably one of the best episodes this season so far. I feel like we needed this, after what I feel was a dud of an episode last week.

Even the end of “A Nice Night for a Drive” is really funny. After Stan eventually sacrifices his SUV to save Klaus, the CIA has all kinds of animals that Klaus’ brain/essence can be put into– but Stan insists they just put his mind back into a goldfish again. A hilarious end to a hilarious episode.
