Review: Adventure Time “Stakes” “Vamps About”

Adventure-Time-Season-7-Episode-8-Vamps-About-Stakes-Part-3-

Subpar, as an episode. “Vamps About” gets the story moving, but not in a novel or entertaining way. Adventure Time missed a step on this one. Even though the supporting characters – namely Finn and Jake – provide laughs though out, the story becomes jumbled and anticlimactic.

A bunch of scary undeads chillin’ in the woods is neither creepy nor funny. The first act of “About Vamps” provides exposition as to motives and themes associated with the new bad-guys in town, but that’s about it.

Pep Butt supplies a slayer kit that’s “strong enough for an ultra vampire, but made for a vampire,” but, aside from Finn breaking the high-tech, super, garlic bomb, there’s very little use of the kit.

After Marcy convinces the crew to get cleaned up, she comes face-to-face with the Vampire King and the little elf vampire. Then everyone talks, the elf dude utters his last words – “Smell my feet, Marceline. I promise you won’t regret it,” – Marcy uses her newly regained powers of flight to race to the Ice Kingdom, and then it ends.

Really, a lack-luster episode. Jake turning his butt into a giant so he can give Marcy and Finn a lift is awesome, and Peppermint Butler’s jokes are extra fresh, but “Vamps About” just can’t pull it all together.
