Producers Of “Highly Gifted” & “King of the Hill” Reveal New Animated Series With Stacked Cast Animated By “Rick and Morty” Studio

You may recall an animated series we told you guys about last year called Freak Brothers coming from the creators of Workaholics, the producers of King of the Hill, and the creators of Highly Gifted being produced by Starburns Industries and now we have a first-look and news that we can expect a fall premiere on an as-yet-announced network (it’s being shopped now).

The cast is friggin’ crazy and is set in 1969, life in San Francisco consists of free love, communal living and political protest. Freewheelin’ Franklin Freek (Woody Harrelson), Fat Freddy Freekowtski (John Goodman), Phineas T. Phreakers (Pete Davidson) and their mischievous, foul-mouthed cat, Kitty (Tiffany Haddish) spend their days dodging many things — the draft, the narcs and steady employment – all while searching for an altered state of bliss. Soon, everyone gets so high that they wake up in present day where they have to figure out how to live in a world that is not how they remember it. Eight episodes are on the way and we can expect to see several mini-sodes including this one featuring John Di Domenico guest-starring as Donald Trump.

Producers include the likes of Dave Krinsky and John Althschuler (King of the Hill) and Highly Gifted‘s twin creators Daniel and Jeremy Lehrer. Blake Anderson and Adam Devine (Workaholics) are staying on as executive producers despite acting as voices for lead characters in the pilot episode. More King of the Hill alums include Alan Cohen and Alan Freedland as showrunners plus additional producers like Jeffrey S. Udall and Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon producers of the comic in which the series is based on.
