Preview: I can’t believe im saying this…but MTV is getting kinda cool again

My entire life I’ve despised MTV and as such there were only a few shows I’d watch from there.  But with Beavis and Butthead coming back next month, rumors of Daria’s return, plus some new additions to the MTV animated lineup maybe MTV won’t be a piece of shit channel anymore…previews after the jump

Beavis and Butthead…ahhhh. I remember like it was yesterday, this was the show my mom wouldn’t let me watch because cunt Oprah Winfrey told her it preaches negativity, however like every kid my age I was up WAY past my bed time watching this. Of course just like anything cool at the time on MTV (along with other awesome things like rock&roll music videos, Headbanger’s Ball, etc) it got cancelled. The cancellation spawned a spin-off character the wildly popular “Daria” and allowed B&B creator Mike Judge to create “King of the Hill” which lasted 13 years.

Since the cancellation of “Beavis and Butthead” MTV has had a TON of different of animated shows, but “Daria” and “Celebrity Deathmatch” were really the only shows that lasted past one season. Fastforward to 2011 here comes MTV with some new animated shows:

Beavis and Butthead

October 27th 2011 can’t come soon enough as Beavis and Butthead returns to MTV in all its glory to finally give a voice back to the heavy metal generation and give shitty TV shows like “Jersey Shore” and anything with Rob Dyrdek in it a piece of our mind. Of coure coupled with the return of Beavis and Butthead, Mike Judge and MTV execs have been getting berated with “Daria” comeback questions and pretty soon I’m sure they are to succumb(see: Futurama, Family Guy).

Good Vibes

Not much is known about this series and I’ve been breaking my balls trying to find a trailer, but what we do know is Good Vibes stars Josh Gad and Adam Brody as characters Mondo and Woodie respectively.  Mondo is a kid from Bayonne,  NJ who moves to Southern California where he meets Woodie who teached Mondo how to surf and stare at hot chicks’ ass. The show also has starring Jake Busey(Gary Busey’s son) and Danny McBride(Eastbound and Down) and was created by David Green(Your Highness and Pineapple Express). Looking forward to this debut on October 27th.

And for you canadian folks, you guys get a great new show called ” Crash Canyon” being developed by Joel Cohen(The Simpsons) which follows the Wendells, a  Canadian family who apparently drives off a cliff(I’ve been telling people to do that for years, who would’ve thought it’s now a show?) while going on vacation. But unlike the Wile E. Coyote who goes off a cliff and is flattened like an accordion these guys just end up at the bottom of a remote canyon.  But, they aren’t alone as they meet up with a crazy cast of characters who also happen to be there for various reasons (kinda like Lost but not as stupid). It premieres on Teletoon( i know its not MTV) Sept 18th @ 9pm but is also being distributed by MTV internationally  except here in the US(because apparently we aren’t cool enough).

So yea MTV is getting cool again…but then again we still have Rob Dyrdek’s bullshit.
