Phil Hartman’s work to live on in ‘Flat TV’ thanks to Worker Studio

And yea, I still miss him…

Phil Hartman was so ahead of his time and I love his work. Not just his stuff on The Simpsons but movies like Jingle All the Way,  Small Soldiers, and of course on SNL (he was by far the best Bill Clinton impersonator). That said, I was delighted to discover that Worker Studio, in collaboration with producers Paul Hartmann and Angel Rosenthal  has secured the option to produce an animated property based on the comedy album, Phil Hartman’s Flat TV.

Pretty much, the plan is to animate 22 shorts based off of the legendary comedy album and in a press release stated that the vignettes revolve around the dysfunctional Sphincter Family and intersperses their daily life with the television broadcasts they consume. It is a satirical portrait of the American family in the late 1970s, but with hilarious insights perennial to our culture.

This sounds pretty awesome and is something that I can certainly get behind. Phil was a genius, and I guarantee if Worker Studios does this right, you could put those shorts on Youtube tomorrow and pretty much raise the bar on animated comedy in one fell swoop. Yea, Phil Hartman, he was that good! Check out the rest of the press release here.
