Our Response To Impatient Fans Of “Rick and Morty” Who Petition For Season Four Renewal

This has started…

Rick and Morty season four hasn’t been ordered yet by Adult Swim so naturally, the whiny fans of America (and it’s a very small fraction) do what they do best…complain to the producers and launch a petition. All this after producer Ryan Ridley in an interview was wondering why the renewal was taking so long. Welp Ryan, if you knew your Adult Swim history, you would know this is actually rather normal for the network.

Typically Adult Swim animated series premiere new seasons every other year. Whether you are Mr. Pickles, or Rick and Morty, or even the Venture Bros (which most recently has been premiering new seasons every three years), Adult Swim has always taken its time in ordering new seasons of its animated shows. And quite frankly, it’s not something to worry about just yet. Creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland don’t seem too worried and appear to enjoy doing other things and to think that Adult Swim is going to sign off on a thousand different licensor opportunities and then not support those licensors are quite frankly asinine. There is so much great TV on right now for Adult Swim and on the way.

And if you are a Rick and Morty die-hard, there’s still a LOT to be excited about. The franchise has new comics, games, and was recently featured in a new music video! Quite frankly, I don’t how you’re sick of too MUCH Rick and Morty, which is way worse than not enough. Do you want more of Justin Roiland’s sultry voice? Go catch up on the very good first season of Hot Streets. Let these guys have their time to themselves and when everyone’s ready to rock, they can be ready to rock.

Update 3/24/18: Dan Harmon further commented on the delay in a renewal. It’s simply contract negotiations at this juncture according to an interview on a recent podcast.
